Senior Manager License Compliance EMEA, Autodesk

Autodesk, a leading vendor of 2D and 3D design software worldwide, has been a client of ITCA since early 2006. Trude Berg, Senior Manager, License Compliance EMEA: “Working with ITCA is like having an extended team. They are efficient, flexible and smart.”

License compliance is a major concern for Autodesk, as according to studies of IDC about 35% of all software used by companies is used without a license. Piracy not only hurts Autodesk, it also impacts the licensed customer, as companies using illegal software, impose an unfair form of competition, as they are competing on pricing without having made the same significant investments in technology. To protect its customer’s investment, Autodesk is continuously working to clamp down on piracy and under licensing.

Added value

Understanding software licensing is a challenge for most of our clients, sometimes companies are incompliant without knowing it. Regular routine self-audits are a way to keep track of what is installed, what is actually being used and compare this to the conditions of the particular license agreement. Autodesk’s license compliance program is therefore not only focused on the enforcement against piracy, we also concentrate a lot of our efforts on education. Software Asset Management is becoming more and more important, and when we selected a partner to support us with enforcement against piracy and education of our clients and channel partners, we concluded that ITCA had all the expertise we were looking for. Their added value is that they have provided us with the opportunity to scale up our efforts considerably, in a short amount of time, because ITCA brings both expertise band standardized work procedures.

One team

It’s more than just a business partnership. We work together with the same objective and use each other’s competencies. We don’t have to guide the ITCA staff. They know what they are doing and how to do it.”

Intermediary

One of the services ITCA provides for is to help Autodesk customers do a self-audit. This makes ITCA an intermediary between Autodesk and its customers, helping them become fully license compliant. Berg: “ITCA reports back to us on every specific customer situation in a useful and valuable way. It’s like having an extended team. Gathering this information is very time consuming, but ITCA works fast. They are quick, but in an intelligent way, which is definitely something that distinguishes them from other parties.” In addition to providing a full audit program for Autodesk users, ITCA also educates Autodesk’s Value Added Resellers in practical principles of Software Asset Management. ITCA developed a custom made training and certification program to stimulate the involvement of channel partners in solving complex license compliance issues with their clients.

Berg: “I would describe ITCA as professional, result orientated and thorough. They are the expert in their field.
